MARGAO: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, on Friday, while defending the statement of Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza, who had hinted at scrapping the Regional Plan if people did not want it, said that the RP 2021 is opened for suggestions and the government would take appropriate decision.
The Chief Minister was speaking to the media on the sidelines of the 36th Sub-Junior National Archery championship, 2016 organised by Amateur Archery Association of Goa at Margao. Parsekar said, “The Regional Plan is kept open for public suggestions and appropriate decision will be taken by the government.”
Defending the Deputy Chief Minister’s statement, who said on Thursday in Navelim that ‘if people wish, the government may scrap the Regional Plan,’ the Chief Minister said that the Deputy Chief Minister must have said it because the government cannot impose the Regional plan on the people if they do not want it.
It may be recalled that the Chief Minister during his earlier visit to Margao had stated that scrapping of the Regional Plan in toto will be unfair as many experts have put in their efforts to prepare it.
His statement, however, had drawn sharp criticism from most of the NGOs and the social activists from South Goa.
