CM to lay corner stone for Sankhali bus stand today


SANKHALI: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar will lay foundation stone for the proposed bus stand at Sankhali on the occasion of birthday of MLA Dr Pramod Sawant on April 24, informed Sankhali BJP mandal president Santosh Malik, secretary Pandurang Kuttikar, Subhash Malik and Vithoba Ghadi, at a press conference in Bicholim.

The unveiling of plaque of foundation stone, for works under master plan of Sankhali town, will also be held at the hands of Parsekar, in the presence of Shripad Naik, Minister of State (independent charge) for Ayush; Francis D’Souza, Deputy Chief Minister; Dr Pramod Sawant, MLA of Sankhali constituency and chairman, GSIDC; and Dharmesh Saglani, chairperson of Sankhali Municipal Council (SMC). GSIDC will take up the master planning of Sankhali town.

Keeping in view the key concerns including transportation and regional connectivity, socio-economic development, heritage conservation and tourism, provision of basic utilities and community facilities have been made.

Parsekar will unveil the plaque, to mark laying of foundation stone for the work of construction of bus stand and mini depot at Sankhali, in the presence of Ramakrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar, Minister for PWD; Carlos Almeida, chairman of KTC and MLA of Vasco constituency; Dr Pramod Sawant and Dharmesh Saglani.

The features of the bus stand are alighting, departing and waiting bays; the mini depot will have five repairing bays with service trenches and bus washing unit; a rickshaw at the entrance of bus stand; parking facility for two-wheelers (80); bus stand has separate entry and exit points with a toll booth at entrance; boom barriers at entry and exit points; provision of ticket counters, eight shops, restaurant, locker units, public toilet and community hall of 60 persons capacity; mini depot has been provided with dormitories and guest rooms; CCTV surveillance are also planned. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 25.24 crore.

Parsekar will also inaugurate reconstruction of government primary school at Falwada-Kudnem in Bicholim, in the presence of Dr Pramod Sawant; Ankita Navelkar, president, north zilla panchayat; Suresh Kamat, deputy sarpanch, Falwada-Kudnem, and Rajan Falkar, panch, Falwada.

Currently, GSIDC is in the process of building hospitals, schools, libraries, stadiums, jetties, bus stands, ravindra bhavans, panchayat ghars, market complex, roads, bridges, etc.

Now, adding to this list of works, GSIDC has executed reconstruction of government primary school at Falwada.

The building is provided with adequate external open area.  The total cost of the project is around Rs 70 lakh.  The ground floor accommodates two classrooms, assembly hall, kitchen, store room and staff room while the first floor two classrooms with balcony.
