‘Mog…Jiye Mogan’ to be staged at KA today

Kala Niketan, Majorda, the defending champions of the Tiatr Competition 2013, will present their tiatr, Mog…Jiye Mogan on the concluding day of the 40th Tiatr Competition organised by Kala Academy, Panaji, on October 16, at the DMKM hall of the Kala Academy.
Kala Niketan has been actively involved in the field of theatre, music, literature and folklore since its inception in the year 1991 and has won several awards at various Tiatr and Mando Competitions.
During the last 23 years, the troupe has presented the following tiatrs: Chuk, Kazulo, Vonnot, Valltti, Vadoll, Moronn, Mukti, Moipas, Zodd, Suriast, Sangharx, Tufan, Zoit, Suzette, Jem Devan Zoddlam, Povitr Apovnnem, Sintidan Paim Ghal go bai, Xi Xi Xi Ghann Ghutt’ttan, besides radio plays and telefilms. They have also released a Konkani album titled ‘Mog Mhaka Tuzo’.
Mog…Jiye Mogan, written and directed by Michael Gracias, is based on a pastoral theme and is recommended for performance in parishes by the Exposition Committee 2014.
The cast comprises of award winning artistes Andrea Fernandes, Clancy Vaz, Jeenet Fernandes, Gladrin Fernandes, Cielda Pereira, Violet Fernandes, Felicia Fernandes, Alancia Gonsalves, Anthony Crasto, Constancio Estibeiro, Lino Fernandes, Francisco Fernandes, Larsen Gracias, Fr Eusico Pereira, Costancio Miranda, Harison Cota and Michael Gracias.
Music has been arranged by Armando Rodrigues. The band comprises of Vitorino Araujo (trumpet) Francisco Azavedo (trumpet), Semy Braganza (trombone), Armando Rodrigues (tenor and soprano saxophone), Jonathan Dias (drums), Amaro Fernandes (violin), John Rodrigues (Violin), Canon D’Souza (keyboards) and Amorino Mascarenhas (bass guitar).
