Parish Youth Nuvem book finals spot
MARGAO: Parish Youth Nuvem entered the finals of 24th Super Soccer when they registered a hard fought 6-5 victory via the tie-breaker against Sporting Club of Davorlim in a fast-paced semi-finals at Dando grounds, Benaulim on Wednesday.
The teams played a 2-2 draw during the regulation time. Parish Youth Nuvem were sitting pretty leading by 2 goals, scored off Shubert Colaco (28th) and Jose Colaco (54th). However, Sporting Club of Davorlim came back from behind and levelled the score through Venson Figueredo (39th) and Stanley Gomes (44th). Both the teams started the match on a hot pace with the ball rolling from one end to the other. The teams spread the ball well all over the playing field and the style of play matched well with the ground being big enough to create spaces with through passes which were seen most of the time in today’s proceedings. As such positional play was on display throughout the match in which Joe Rose Oliveira and Joe Colaco along with Xavier Colaco played a stellar role for the Nuvem team. On the other hand, it was Bonny Niasso who gave a tough time for the Nuvem defence with his fine runs down the flank and systematic crosses across the Nuvem goal mouth, where however, the Nuvem keeper Francis Fernandes stood tall in grabbing every ball that the Davorlim lads sent across. The proceedings were so fast that there were goal-bound moves aplenty with goalkeepers at both ends having a busy time. The Davorlim goalkeeper too brought off smart saves. As the teams were involved in a deadlock, the tie-breaker system had to be adopted in which Parish Youth scored accurately through Kitereo Pango, Xavier Colaco,Elrich Pereira and Stanley Colaco. Sporting Davorlim could find the mark only through Bonny Niasso, Taxton Gomes and Melwin Figueredo.
