20-yr-old arrested in house break-in cases


VASCO: Verna police on Thursday arrested Ashpak Katoor (20), a resident of New-Vaddem, for his alleged involvement in house robberies at Quelossim and three other locations in Maina Curtorim.

The police informed that that they have recovered two four-wheelers including a Maruti van, bearing registration number GA-06-D-7605 and a Ford car bearing registration number GA-08-E-4588 that were used in the offences committed.

Verna police informed that Kattor had committed theft in a house at Quelossim a month ago and stolen cash and gold ornaments worth around Rs 1.90 lakh.

He had also committed theft in Maina Curtorim area in three different houses from where cash, gold and foreign currency, totally valued at Rs 5 lakh, were stolen.

The police have recovered the stolen property from the possession of the alleged accused. He has confessed to his involvement in the robberies, the police said. The police have registered an offence under sections 457, 380 of Indian Penal Code (IPC). The accused was produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Vasco and his 5-day police custody was obtained. Police sub-inspector Navin Dessai is investigating the case under the supervision of PI Shailesh Narvekar.
