1 held with Rs 1.8 lakh worth charas at Patnem

Margao/Canacona: The Canacona police, on Sunday, informed that they have arrested one  Prem Kumar (24) from Kepervado Patnem-Canacona, during a narcotics raid conducted by them during the wee hours of Sunday.

The accused, who is a native of Himachal Pradesh, was staying in a rented premises, informed the police.

Canacona PI Tukaram Chavan informed that ANC team nabbed the youth with 347.10 grams of substance suspected to be charas.

The ANC team, which was led by SDPO Kiran Poduwal, and included PI Tukaram Chavan, PSI Dhiraj Devidas, LPSI Rifa Barretto, HC Ramkust Faldessai, PC Gautam Faldessai, 

PC Akshay, PC Milind Sail and PC Kavish intercepted Kumar at Patnem and found on him the suspected narcotics substance, informed the police, adding Kumar was arrested between 12.15 am and 2 am.

The police said that the accused is lodged in police custody and is being interrogated. 

Police sub-inspector Dinraj Devidas has lodged a complaint against the accused on behalf of the state. 

The police said that an offence under sections 20(b) (ii),(A), 22(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 has been registered against the accused.
