Mavambo combines traditional Afro-Brazilian dance and music, focusing on ‘roda’, or circle, the format in which most of these traditions are held. The ritual and trance aspects of the Afro-Brazilian culture, as well as its playfulness and joyfulness, are widely explored in a very creative way.
Nazeer Ahmed Khan Warsi and Naseer Ahmed Khan Warsi are recipients of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for contribution to Qawwali. They belong to the ‘Qawwal Bachchey of Delhi Gharana’. They have received training from their grandfather Aziz Ahmed Khan Warsi and father Zaheer Ahmed Khan Warsi a National Awardee.
