VVM College conducts workshop on Sepaktakraw Game

With the aim of spreading awareness about the game of Sepaktakraw among physical education teachers of schools and college, the department of physical education and sport of Swami Vivekanand Vidyaprasarak Mandal’s College of Commerce, Ponda organised a state level workshop on Sepaktakraw Game in association with Goa Sepaktakraw Association. The workshop was attended by 96 participants from high school, higher secondary and colleges.

Chief guest for the workshop was principal of Cuncolim Higher Secondary School, Trillory Fernandes. In his address Fernandes said Sepaktakraw was first played on the play ground of the Cuncolim Higher Secondary School and it is from there that it gained popularity in Goa. The workshop began with a technical session by resource person Mohammad Gulfam who discussed the rules and regulations of the game. There was also a demonstration by SAG coach, L Honi Singh and six national players. Chief guest for the valedictory function was chairman of Goa Sepaktakraw Association, Chandrakant Kavlekar.
