Kala Academy organised the Marathi Drama Competition ‘A’ group at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Panaji. The results of the competition have been declared.
‘Vishwamitra’ staged by Rudreshwar, Panaji won the first place of `1,00,000, ‘Avyahat’ staged by Hans Sangeet Natyamandal-Ponda and ‘Ashad Bar’ staged by Natrang Creations, Narve won second and third places and cash amounts of `75,000 and `50,000 respectively. Consolation prizes of `25,000 each were awarded to ‘Natakkarachya Shodhat Saha Patra’ staged by Shree Naguesh Mahalaxmi Prasadik Natyasamaj, Bandivade and ‘Moon Without Sky’ staged by Rasrang, Ugvem-Pernem.
The first place for best direction was awarded to Afsar Hussain for ‘Vishwamitra’, second place was won by Rohan Ravindra Naik for ‘Avyahat’ and third place was won by Santosh Shetkar for ‘Ashad Bar’.
The first place for best acting in the male category was awarded to Deepak Amonkar for the role of Vishwamitra in ‘Vishwamitra’, second place was won by Ketan Jadhav for the role of Upali in ‘Avyahat’. Merit certificates were awarded to Milind Barve, Mayur Mayenkar, Ajit Kerkar, Raghunath Sacordekar, Ajit Kamat and Shyam Shetgaonkar.
The first place for best acting in the female category was awarded to Madhuri Shetkar for the role of Solanj in ‘Kathpadar’, second place was won by Shradha Gawandi for the role of Bayko in ‘497 No Jodapa’. Merit certificates were awarded to Snehal Shetye, Sanskruti Raikar, Suvidha Torgal Bakhale, Purti Sanvordekar, Cheiti Kadkade and Manuja Lokur Narvenkar.
Best stage set-up was won by Yogesh Kapdi for ‘Vishwamitra’, a merit certificate for stage set-up was awarded to Kiran Naik for ‘Avyahat’. Best light effect was won by Vijaykumar Naik for ‘Vishwamitra’ and a merit certificate was awarded to Dayanand Rane for ‘Natakkarachya Shodhat Saha Patra’. Best costume was won by Manuja Lokur Narvenkar for ‘Vishwamitra’ and a merit certificate was awarded to Kalpana Shetkar for ‘Ashad Bar’.
Best background music was won by Dilip Sindhuraj for ‘Vishwamitra’ and a merit certificate was presented to Gautam Barve for ‘Ashad Bar’. Best makeup was won by Jayant Natekar for ‘Fakast Sadeteen Hath’ and a merit certificate was won by Das Kavlekar for ‘Natakkarachya Shodhat Saha Patra’.
The prize for best script won by Mahableshwar Redkar for ‘Fakast Sadeteen Hath’ and the prize for translated/adapted script for the drama competition was awarded to Kaustubh Naik for ‘Avyahat’.
Judges for the competition were Nandakumar Sawant (Mumbai), Milind Tikekar (Ratnagiri) and Ravindra Kulkarni (Sangli).
