Stalwarts from the Congress party in the state paid rich tributes to the former Prime Minister Bharata Ratna late AB Vajpayee by garlanding his portrait on Sunday at the Congress House in the city.
The president of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, Girish Chodankar, the Leader of Opposition in the House, Babu Kavlekar, former Law minister, Ramakant Khalap, former Union minister, Eduardo Faleiro, former CCP Mayor Surendra Furtado, MK Shaikh, Chandrakant Chodankar, Dharma Chodankar, Subhash Phaldessai, Gurudas Natekar, N Shivdas, Siddhant Bhuyao and others paid floral tributes by garlanding the portrait of the late prime minister.
They said although he was associated with RSS, BJP and Jana Sangh, Vajpayee was a politician with a difference. He was a person with a different ideology, a statesman, a poet and a good orator.
They said after the Bangladesh war in 1971, Vajpayee compared late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, as Durga mata. When he discovered that a portrait of the first prime minister, Late Jawaharlal Nehru was missing he asked the employees in his cabin to bring it back. He ordered Narendra Modi to quit from the post of Chief Minister and urged him to follow ‘Raj Dharma’ when he visited Gujarat after Godhra riots.
Siddhant Bhuyao coined and recited a poem urging the late prime minister to be reborn into the Congress Party and to serve the country again.
