A brace of goals by attacking medio Yamunsab Pinjar and a smart strike by Prahlad Velip enabled United Boys of Palolem to register a well deserved 3-2 win against Curtorim Gymkhana and enter the finals of CRC Cup football tournament played at Chinchinim grounds on Wednesday.
Down by two goals, United Boys of Palolem came back very strongly to stun the well known Curtorim Gymkhana team who lost their plot after being lethargic in the second session, allowing the Palolem team to dictated terms.
After Curtorim Gymkhana tasted success by going into the lead in the 19th minute through Myson Fernandes, Curtorim were all over the rival territory and dominated the first half.
Curtorim buttressed their lead through Marcus Fernandes who on receiving a neat pass from Myson, dashed into the box and then sent an angular effort to beat the rival keeper.
Surprisingly, Curtorim Gymkhana thereafter lost their focus which resulted to United Boys of Palolem pulling a goal back in th 30th minute through Yamunsab Pinjar.
The second, United Boys’ Yamunsabh Pinjar sent a shot to the far corner of Curtorim nets to level terms in the 43rd minute.
Yamunsab once again rose to the occasion and scored the match winner in the 51st minute when he hoodwinked the Curtorim defence to bulge the nets in great style and take his team into the finals.
United Boys of Palolem will now meet Don Bosco Oratory in the final scheduled to be played on October 13.
