Unauthorised bus halts causing inconvenience on Ribandar road

Residents of Ribandar especially those residing near Ajuda church are complaining that they are being inconvenienced due to unauthorised halting of buses.

Residents said that despite repeated complaints to the concerned authority, the unauthorised halting of buses continues and the resultant problem of traffic snarls.

“We are facing a lot of inconvenience due to the unauthorised halting of buses and honking by other vehicles, which leads to noise pollution,” said a senior citizen, residing near Chorao jetty.

Another resident Shafir Shaikh, who was doing a follow up on the matter, said that the affected residents had approached various authorities including the chief minister.

“Despite notification issued by the magistrate designating the stretch as No Stopping or Standing Zone, buses continue to make halts. We all urge the collector to intervene in the matter and ensure that the buses follow the rules,” he added. Residents further demanded installation of CCTV cameras at various spots to control the unauthorised halting of passenger buses along the route or deployment of traffic personnel to issue fines to violators.
