UM Motorcycles, the American motorcycle manufacturer, is planning to launch the carbureted version of two of its most popular bikes, Renegade Sport S and Commando in the Indian market. Currently, the company is retailing the two bikes in India, but with fuel injection technology.
The bike maker has taken this step to accumulate more sales as the carbureted models are much cheaper than the fuel-injected models. The company, recently, carried out a research for the domestic market and got many important feedbacks. Now, the manufacturer is all geared up to introduce some more affordable variants to attract more buyers.
Both the UM Commando and Renegade Sport S come equipped with a 279.5 cc liquid-cooled single cylinder, fuel injected engine that is capable of producing a maximum power of 24.8 bhp and a peak torque of 23 Nm. The power, thus developed, is transferred to the wheels via a 6-speed gearbox.
However, the power figures of the carburetted version of both the bikes could be slightly lesser than the fuel injected ones, but, the prices would be down as well. It is expected that the new models would be available for around Rs 10,000 less than their fuel-injected counterparts, only because of employing the traditional carburettor technology.
As far as the price of the currently sold UM Renegade Sport S and Commando is concerned, they carry an ex-showroom price tag of Rs 1.59 lakh and 1.76 lakh respectively, in Delhi.
The American Manufacturer, UM Motorcycles, is popularly known for cruiser bikes in the 300 cc segment all over the world. The carbureted versions of the Renegade Sport S and Commando will be up against the likes of the Royal Enfield Thunderbird and Classic. Autoportal
