United Club of Benaulim won five-goal thriller against St Anthony’s SC, Colva in the Goa Football Association Third Division League match played at Benaulim ground, on Tuesday.
Coming into the game with a positive result in the previous game, Benaulim side attacked right from the first whistle and deservingly broke the deadlock in the 4th minute through Stanley Fernandes. The striker was impressive upfront for his side as he continuously tormented the rival defence with his daunting runs.
Stanley doubled the lead in the 26th minute before completing his hat-trick at the half-hour mark. The Colva side were nowhere in the game in the first half.
Crossing ends, St Anthony’s Club were a different side as they turned the tables with an attacking game plan. Remedio Fernandes scored for Colva side in the 56th minute and Joel Tavares pulled another goal back late into the game. However, the Colva side fell short of time and eventually lost 2-3.
Meanwhile, Dicarpale Sports Club scored a fluent 2-0 win over Carmona Sports Club.
The winners scored in the either halves of the play through Alroy Moniz and Rayan Furtado.
Meanwhile, the GFA has informed that Macasana Welfare Club have withdrawn from the Third Division League and hence all their league matches stand cancelled.
