Instead of receiving gold ornaments for polishing the two youth received thrashing from villagers on Monday morning.

Reliable sources disclosed that two youth, Mohammad Bablu and Ajay Kumar residents of Bihar went to Rivona and visited houses requesting housewives to handover their gold ornaments for polishing. To their bad luck some housewives who had bad experience in the past suspected them to be cheats and raised an
alarm.

Soon the local villagers were alerted who rushed to the spot and caught hold of the duo. On receiving no satisfactory explanation to their questions the villagers thrashed the men by removing their clothes. On getting information the Quepem police rushed to the spot and took the duo in their custody.

As no villager came forward to lodge any complaint against the alleged accused, both men were taken to the Quepem police station. When they were taken to PHC Quepem for medical examination, they were referred to Hospicio hospital Margao. The police have not yet registered any offence against the duo.

ASI Divakar Velip is investigating the case under the supervision of PI Santosh Dessai.
