Tuff too tough for Vasco SC

Tuff too tough for Vasco SC

Tuff Laxmi Prasad Sports Club registered a 4-1 win over Vasco Sports Club in the 11th round match of the Goa Pro-League played at Duler stadium, here on Saturday.
In the first meeting, the teams were locked in a goalless draw.
After Saturday’s encounter, both the teams, Tuff Laxmi and Vasco SC have 14 points each.
Tuff went into the breather leading by three goals with Ndubuisi Opara netting a brace and Micky Fernandes scoring from the penalty spot.
The Port side badly missed the services of Jerose Oliveira, Kingsley Fernandes in the midfield and Nigerian Chinedu Ejiogu (Emmanuel) upfront -all seating in the stands due to suspension.
Tuff Laxmi, on the other hand, were further strengthened with the return of Micky Fernandes from injury in the midfield and two Nigerians Ndubuisi Opara and Francis Onyema as strikers.
It was an early 6th minute long ranger from Agnelo D’Souza which ricocheted off the Tuff goalpost, but off the rebound Agnelo failed to tap home.
On a counter, Tuff came with two quick goals through Nigerian Francis Onyema.
In the 18th minute, Francis’s stiff grounder came off the Vasco side post to find Ndubuisi Opara who drilled a low shot which crashed into the back of the nylons, 1-0.
It did not take long for Tuff to double their lead when a 25-yard blistering shot was too hot for keeper Jerson Pereira to hold. While attempting a rebound, captain Remus Gomes was brought down by the keeper and referee Shaik Niazi pointed to the dreaded spot.
Micky Fernandes calmly scored from the spot kick, 2-0.
Vasco had a glorious opportunity to reduce the margin in the 35th, when Sajesh Muttath’s crosses at the heart of the Tuff Laxmi goal area were twice blocked by keeper Siddesh Morje.
However, in the injury time, Tuff made it 3-0, when substitute Agnelo Colaco sent a through pass to Anthony Barbosa, who was thwarted by keeper Jerson and the ball travelled to Ndubuisi Opara, who drove the ball into an unguarded goal.
Vasco colts looked a transformed unit on crossing over.
In the very second minute, Hayson Velho scored a goal for Vasco side off Sujil NS pass, 3-1.
Three minute later Vasco almost got back into the match, when a penalty was awarded after Stanley D’Silva had handled the ball. However, Hayson Velho was unlucky as his placement went out.
Agnelo Colaco scored a gem of a goal from the right flank as his strike entered the top corner of the Vasco goal, 4-1.
Luck did not smile on the Port side once again in the 74th minute when a long ranger by Shubham Desai hit the upright and after touching the goal line rebounded into play, with a strong appeal from the Vasco’s coach Eban Mesquita going in vain.
In the last ten minutes of the match, Hayson’s shot hit the side post, while Melistan strike was pushed to safety by keeper Siddesh.
