Tiatr to complete 125 years since inception

Kala Academy, Panaji, in association with the 125th Anniversary of Tiatr Celebration Committee and Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG) will organise a programme on April 17 at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Kala Academy at 4 p.m. on the occasion of completion of 125 years of tiatr.

“A special programme ‘History of Goan Tiatr’ will be presented by popular and veteran tiatr artistes. Music is rendered by Selvin, lights effects by Dnyaneshwar Morajkar, background music by Johny B Gud and Joy Fernandes while I have written the script,” said vice-chairman of 125th Anniversary of Tiatr Celebration Committee, Tomazinho Cardozo at a press conference held at TAG.

Veteran tiatr artistes Antonette Mendes, Rita Rose, Betty Naz, Titta Pretto, Joe Rose, Ben Evangelisto, Roseferns, Prince Jacob, Alfy de Divar, Selvy, Luis Bachchan, Mario Meneses and others will also participate in the programme.

Speaking about the activities carried out during the year, Cardozo said: “We have felicitated over 400 tiatr artistes from across Goa and Mumbai through various functions which were held in various talukas. We are yet to felicitate many more artistes for their immense contributions.”

He also mentioned about producing a documentary on tiatr depicting the past and present of tiatr which is still underway. “We are also working on releasing the postal stamp and special envelope through Indian Postal Department. Two commemorative volumes, showcasing the contribution of tiatr artistes of yesteryears is still underway. A festival of classic tiatr and festival of model tiatr along with a one-day tiatr Sammelan will be held over the year celebrating the 125th Anniversary of tiatr celebration in Goa,” added Cardozo.

 

(Kala Academy Goa and Tiatr Academy of Goa in collaboration with 125th Anniversary of Tiatr Celebration Committee will organise Tiatr Day celebration on April 17 at 4.30 p.m. at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Panaji. A special programme ‘Tiatracho Itihas’ (History of Tiatr), will be presented by Goan artistes. Open to all.)
