Curtorim: Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda entered the semifinals of Curtorim Villagers Cup football tournament defeating Sao Jose de Areal 3-1 played at church grounds, Curtorim on Tuesday.
Playing an attacking game, Don Bosco went into the lead in the 8th minute when attacking medio Raul Fernandes raced down the right flank and on receiving a neat pass off Niclau Borges, banged the ball to the far end of Sao Jose de Areal nets.
There was no respite to the onslaught of raids by Don Bosco, as the team gelled well in all the departments of the game and buttressed their lead through striker Velito Miranda whose angular strike off a cross from John Colaso who gave no chance to the rival keeper. This goal came off in the 26th minute.
Asserting pressure, Don Bosco made it 3-0 in their favour two minutes later when striker Hanslum Furtado bulged the nets in a great fashion when Cliff Barreto passed the ball to him.
The second session saw Sao Jose de Areal regrouping well to meet the challenge but their efforts were not enough even when they came very close in finding the mark in the first few minutes of the second session.
Areal defence looked a improved lot, but their midfield could have done much better in sending some passes in the upfront.
Sao Jose de Areal pulled a goal back in the 60th minute when striker Liston D’Costa gave no chance to Don Bosco keeper Karol Soares after medio Mario Barretto passed the ball to him.
Don Bosco thereafter missed two great chances from close distance when Velito and Hanslum saw their shots missing the target narrowly.
In the last few minutes of play, Sao Jose de Areal made last ditch effort to reduce the margin further but their efforts proved futile.
