Three-day Science Film Festival of India (SCI- FFI) concludes

“The third edition of Science Film Festival of India (SCI-FFI) is an innovative approach of using films to take science to people,” said national organising secretary, Vijnana Bharati, Jayant Sahasrabuddhe while speaking at the valedictory function and prize distribution ceremony of the film festival. This year the festival had the participation of over 12,000 students from across 101 schools and 30 reputed scientists.

Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar while addressing the audience said that the government has implemented various schemes to help students. “Through various schemes and mechanisms we create scientific temperament among students to think straight, logically and come to conclusion as to how you need to proceed further,” said Parrikar.

He said that the concept of open book tests brings out the knowledge within the students and hence it should be implemented in colleges and universities. “You will be able to solve a question in an open book test only if you have knowledge about how to solve it or if you know where the answer lies in the book,” said Parrikar adding that science teachers must be educated by giving them easy concepts of teaching and helping them in understanding science.

Also present for the valedictory function were vice chairman, ESG, Rajendra Talak; director, department of Science and Technology, Levinson Martins and president, Vidnyan Parishad Goa, Suhas Godse. This event was organized by Vidnyan Parishad and supported by the Department of Science & Technology, Govt of Goa, Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) and National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) in co-operation with NCAOR, GSSB, Goa Science centre, Vigyan Prasar, Delhi.
