Mapusa police have booked unknown taxi drivers for wrongful restraint and allegedly assaulting a taxi driver registered under an app-based service, at Tivim railway station.

According to Mapusa police, the incident took place on Tuesday morning when the complainant Kalandar Tahasildar had gone to Tivim railway station to drop customers.

The police informed that Kalandar had parked his car and was waiting for another customer who had done booking outside the station.

However, since the customer arrived with more people, the booking was cancelled and Kalandar was about the leave when four-five unknown taxi drivers approached him and had a dustup saying no outside taxis were allowed to take customers. This further led to the complainant getting assaulted, the police said.

Mapusa police have registered the offence under sections 341, 323, 504 and 506(ii) of Indian Penal Code against unknown persons. Mapusa police is further investigating the case.
