Panaji police on Friday arrested Tulsidas Shirodkar (35) who reportedly committed theft of cash of over Rs 20,000 from different flats and also allegedly watched women while they were sleeping in their rooms at a residential complex in Dona Paula.
The alleged accused is a resident of Taleigao and, according to the police, during the search of his house they found women undergarment. Police say that the accused stays alone and he appears to be of unsound mind. Even his behaviour with women in the village was inappropriate, the police said. According to the police, the accused will be sent for medical examination at GMC hospital, Bambolim.
The accused used to enter the building partly naked, the police said, referring to the complaint.
Referring to the case, Panaji police station in-charge PI Siddhant Shirodkar said that, “during the course of investigation, it was learnt that one person had seen the accused while entering the building premises.” He further said that, “based on the description provided by the eye witnesses as well as the details provided by the complainant, we suspected that the accused could be staying in a nearby
According to PI Shirodkar, a special team was formed headed by PSI Arun Dessai and after a thorough investigation they nabbed the accused at his residence in Taleigao.
Police said that the accused revealed that he sneaked into society basement and using staircase went to the first floor and through parapet he entered a balcony by opening window of one of the flats. Police said that there are four security guards in the residential complex, however, there was no CCTV surveillance prior to the incident.
Earlier on Thursday, an FIR was registered against unknown accused under IPC Sections 354 C (voyeurism), 457 (lurking house-trespass or house break-in by night in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment) and 380 (theft in dwelling house).
