Swarmangesh 2017, Goa’s biggest music and dance festival, presented by Rajdeep Builders and organised by Swastik Cultural Association has organised its 7th edition in memory of Dinanath Mangeshkar.
Swarmangesh is enthralling its audience with the blend of the rich heritage of Indian Classical music and dance which is being showcased by some of the best artists of the country.
The programme today will begin at 9.30 a.m. at Dinanath Mageshkar Hall with a performance by Shounak Abhisheki followed by a jugalbandi between tabla player Akram Khan (Delhi) and pakhwaaz player Ravi Shankar Upadhyay (Gaya, Bihar). They will be accompanied by sarangi player Murad Ali. The first session will end with a classical performance by Meeta Pandit, daughter of vocalist L K Pandit. The second session will begin at 4 p.m. with performances by kathak dancer Rudra Shankar Mishra from Banaras who will be accompanied by Mukundraj Deo on the tabla and Sangeet Mishra on the sarangi. There will also be a performance by flautist Pravin Godkhandi accompanied by Akram Khan.
Swarmangesh will also have a performance by Rashid Khan who will be accompanied by tabla player Shubhankar Bannerjee (Kolkata), Murad Ali on the sarangi Lehra and Mukund Petkar on the harmonium.
(The festival is being held today at Dinanath Mangeshkar Hall, Kala Academy, Panaji from 9:30 a.m. onwards. It is open to all.)
