Sunshine Worldwide School’s ‘Sunfest 2017’ to be held from October 13

Old Goa-based Sunshine Worldwide School is organising ‘Sunfest 2017’ a signature event to mark its 15 anniversary. The theme for the event is ‘Educate, Experience and Enjoy’ and it will be held from October 13 to October 15 at Kala Academy and SAG Grounds, Campal.

The three-day event will start with a globally recognised TED talk like event- TEDxSunshineWorldwideSchool on October 13 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Black Box, Kala Academy and will host a mix of National and Goan speakers who will share their unique ideas.

Speakers include founder of Muni International School, Ashok Kumar Thakur; psychology teacher, psychologist and counsellor at Sunshine Worldwide School, Charlene Farrell; teacher, celebrated inspirational Orator and motivational speaker, social entrepreneur, management consultant, leadership trainer and life coach, Jeroninio Almeida; self-taught developer and designer, Kenneth Alvares; an award winning architect for cost effective and sustainable private residencies and hospitality projects in Goa, Tallulah D’Silva; and mother-daughter duo Suvarna Fonseca e Antao and Zuleika Juliet Antao. Suvarna is a lecturer in biology in Carmel Higher Secondary, homeopathic physician and environmentalist. Her daughter Zuleika, participated in a national level science exhibition and competition in 2015 called Inspire in Delhi. She was awarded a silver medal by former president Pranab Mukherjee and mechanical engineer with PGDBM from 11M Ahmedabad, Aditya Jhunjhunwala.

tedxsunshineworldwideschool.com is a ticketed event with limited 100 seats available. Each ticket is sold at `500 and 60 tickets have already been sold.

On October 14 and October 15, a national conference on ‘Education on Experiential Education in Schools’ with speakers and experts from all over India will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kala Academy.

The two-day summit has been organised by AGGRUSA (All Goa Government Recognised Unaided Schools Association). School owners, principals and teachers from all over India are expected to attend the event.

The topic for Day 1 will be the implementation of Experiential Education in Schools and uninterrupted quality education for the 21st Century children, in line with national and international expectations. The event is open to all teachers and interested persons. The speakers for the day are Narendra Goidani, Swati Popat, Kiran Bir Sethi and her team, Gururaj Karajagi, Arpita Mittal, Liza Sreedharan, Alok Mathur and Ajit Huilgol.

Day 2 is open only to school owners, principals and administrators. There will be a panel discussion on Education for a Developed India on matters of advocacy and governance and the coalition of all national private unaided school associations under a single umbrella. Speakers will include Deepak Khaitan, Kulbhushan Sharma, A Senthil Kumaran, Damodar Goyal, professor Mathew Ninan and Anirudh Khaitan. The members of the panel discussion are chairman, Haryana Board of Education, Priyamvada Taneja; Jagbir Singh; director of Education, Goa, G P Bhat; director Goa SCERT, Nagaraj Honnekeri and Amit Chandra.

The three days will also feature theater, music, dance and entertainment performances at the SAG Grounds, Campal. Students will perform a musical ‘We Will Rock You’ based on the music of popular rock band Queen. Additionally, an art mela called Atlantis will be held. Food stalls, fun rides, games for children, activities and other stalls will entertain people.
