PORVORIM: Riding on fine half-centuries by opener Sumiran Amonkar (unbeaten 69) and skipper Sagun Kamat (57), hosts Goa made a strong start against Jammu and Kashmir in their Elite Group C Ranji Trophy match, reaching 216 for 2 at the close of first day’s play at GCA Academy ground in Porvorim, on Monday.
Goa made a sedate start to their innings after J&K captain Parvez Rasool won the toss and chose to bowl first. Openers Sumiran Amonkar and Amogh Desai put on 76-run partnership for the first wicket in 47.1 overs when former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan dismissed the latter for 43.
