Students compete in inter-college cooking and bed-making competition

With the objective of providing students an opportunity to experience in the hospitality industry while showcasing their talent in an extraordinary way, Goa Marriott Resort and Spa organised an inter-college cooking and bed-making competition on the theme ‘To the Journey’.

The competition was open to all the colleges saw participants from IHM, Porvorim, V M Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education, Raia, Deltin Institute of Learning, Porvorim, American College of Culinary and Language Arts, Margao, Pacific Institute of Hotel Management – Udaipur, Bharati Vidyapeeth – IHMCT Pune and Lovely Professional University – Punjab, each who had a team comprising of two participants per competition.

During the competition contestants were given the opportunity to network with the chefs and other associates who were able to pass down tips and their guidance to the budding aspirants.

Participants were marked for creativity, attention to details and delivering to deadlines by a distinguished judging panel.

Contestants participating in the bed making competition were given eight minutes to showcase their creativity as well as bed making skills. The winners for the bed making competition were Jason Dias and Joehan Da Silva, representing V M Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education, Raia. On another note the contestants participating in the cooking competition were given two hours to create and plate two dishes, from a wide spread of ingredients. The winners for the cooking face off were Asmita Thasildar and Pranay Naik from Deltin Institute of Learning, Porvorim.

Winners were awarded cash prizes and certificates, followed by a delightful session of high-tea for all the participants to mark the end of the competition on a light note.
