The Center for Incubation and Business Acceleration (CIBA) in association with Agnel Institute for Technical Design had organized a startup Job Fair 2018 recently. The event had10 companies participating namely Fabcoders, Freethink, Wafer Electronics, Creative Makers, Tangentia, Garage Guys, Soul Travelling , Minkspay, Aspire Consultants and InnovSource.
Over 80 job seekers attended and participated in the interview processes of different companies. Applicants were mainly from the engineering colleges in the state as well as graduates from the local colleges. This was the second job fair organised by CIBA, Assagaon. Neville Veiga, manager, said that, this year’s job fair received better participation of companies compared to last year. He added that, job fairs are the platform to connect available manpower to startups.
Lack of jobs is a major problem afflicting educated Goan youth leading to large scale migration to other states. Human resource experts have pointed out that the state faces a gap between expectations of job seekers and requirements of industry. “Job fairs are the need to the day to bridge the gap,” said Veiga.
