Samira Abraham clinches gold in Senior National Triathlon Championship
Samira Abraham who represented Goa in the Senior National Triathlon Championship held at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh emerged as the women’s champion. Her overall timing was 2 hours 30 minutes and 4 seconds — 27.45 minutes for 1.5 kilometres swimming; 1 hour 10 minutes and 16 seconds for 40 kilometres cycling, and 51.05 minutes for the 10 kilometres run.
Sports has always been an integral part of Samira’s life. She has learned many life lessons through it and it has helped her develop as an individual. Expressing her joy over the win Samira said that it feels amazing to have won gold. “It is a childhood dream come true. It involved consistent hard work and the support of others. It’s worth the work and I feel truly blessed. I was confident of having prepared the best I could and I was excited to race,” added Samira.
When asked why she chose to participate in the triathlon, Samira told that it was organic. She used to swim and run and then started cycling towards end of 2016. She loves the sport and feels there is plenty to learn.
Though we see a lot of athletes following a particular diet, she does not follow any diet. She likes eating nutritious, fresh, home cooked food.
