Student of Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim Aadya Nitish Kerkar won around 23 prizes including ‘Best Graduate of the year 2017’, ‘Best Lady Graduate of the year 2017’ at Vismaya 2018, the annual social gathering and prize distribution ceremony organised by the college for students association 2017-2018.

Aadya who completed her MBBS from GMC this year has stood first in all four years of MBBS; she says that this was possible due to God’s grace, constant motivation and support of her parents and siblings, also her teachers for the encouragement and not to forget her friends. Her hobbies include travelling, listening to music, and reading.

Speaking of what made her choose this field, she says: “Since school days I liked both maths and biology but the interest in knowing life processes took the upper hand, so I joined MBBS.” She adds that apart from her parents and grandparents being doctors there was never pressure to join medicine.

Currently doing her internship at GMC, Aadya believes that during internship one gets the experience of working in each speciality of medicine, so she would like to choose a specialisation depending on it. “I would like to explore the field of medical research and do something creative for the society,” she concludes.
