St Xavier’s organises Psychofiesta 2018

St Xavier’s College, Department of Psychology, in association with the Directorate of Art and Culture, Government of Goa recently organised the first edition of Psychofiesta 2018 – Wisdom of the Psyche on the theme ‘Psychology and Culture’. Chief Guest for the inaugural function was director, Directorate of Art and Culture, Gurudas Pilernekar and the guest of honour was Govind Shirodkar.

Pilernekar in his address expressed his happiness of being among young minds and stressed on the importance of humility, dignity of labour and achievement motivation to climb greater heights in the journey of learning and development. On the occasion professor Eulalia Fernandes, a faculty member of the Psychology Department was felicitated for being conferred PhD in Psychology from Karnatak University, Dharwad.

The Psychofiesta 2018 witnessed a wide array of on–stage events: mashed duet synchrony, Mr and Ms Psychofiesta2018, culture-fusion dance, fashion parade on glimpses of modern culture, psyche-culture quizophile and off-stage events: the big picture, abstract art, poetic talent, obstacle challenge which provided a sumptuous platform for display of knowledge, skills and talents. Each college participant team consisted of 12 students and a faculty member from Dhempe College of Arts and Science Miramar, Carmel College for women-Nuvem, Abbe Faria Post Graduate department of Psychology – St Xavier’s College, Don Bosco College Panaji, Murgaon Education Society’s College of Arts and Commerce Zuarinagar and Government College Khandola.

The overall champion rolling trophy was won by Dhempe College, Miramar and the runners-up trophy by Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce Khandola, Marcel. The crown of Mr and Psychofiesta 2018 was awarded to Ashley Mendonsa from Government College Khandola   and Ms Sobita Kudtarkar from Dhempe College Miramar respectively.

Individual trophies for winners of each event were also awarded.
