MAPUSA: In a well-organised function at Poriat grounds Calangute, the Football Legends under the presidentship of  Bonney Sierro, Peter Carvalho, Cyriaco Dias, Diago Silveira of Calangute, came forward to conduct this meaning full event, where yesteryears’ players, who made the village of Calangute proud with their football skills, were felicitated.

Alex Miranda, Anthony D’Souza, Peter Carvalho, Bruno Coutinho, Peter Gomes, Alex Coutinho, Anthony F D’Souza, Bhaskar Gadekar, Digamber Haldankar, Zacharias Fernandes, Namshed Kundaikar, Sebastian Silveira, Luis Gonsalves, Romeo Mascarenhas and Yolanda De Souza were felicitated by the chief guest Dr Susana de Souza, Director of Sports and Youth Affairs, and guest of honour Mr Savio Messias, GFA secretary.
Before the function an exhibition match was played between Calangute Association and Sodiem Sports Club, where Calangute got the better of Sodiem 2-1. Cliff Fernandes and Pedro Gonsalves scored for Calangute, while Mayur Toraskar pulled one back for Sodiem.
