MAPUSA: United Club Nerul registered a solitary goal win over Valpoi Sports Club to enter the quarters of the Late Pramodini Dattaram Palyekar Soccer, organised by Football Club of Siolim at St Anthony’s Church grounds, Siolim, on Saturday.

In the 20th minute, Melvin Lobo got hold of the ball just outside the penalty box and lashed a power packed right footer, which beat the rival keeper hands down. Valpoi lads tried to wipe out the one-goal deficit as a scorcher by Mansur Khan was excellently halted by Nerul keeper Siddesh Morje. Abdul Khan and Mohammad missed a sitter each for Valpoi.
