JAIPUR: Dempo Goodwill Ambassador and ace Goan swimmer Talasha Satish Prabhu claimed two silver medals, one each in the 50-m butterfly and 200-m freestyle events, at the ongoing 64th Senior National Aquatic Championships, here on Thursday.
Talasha will participate in the 50-m freestyle event on Friday.
Meanwhile, Aaron Agnel D’Souza of Karnataka and Surabhi Tipre of Maharashtra won two gold medals each this morning. Karnataka team created a new national record in 4x100m freestyle.
Due to heavy rain on the previous day, the finals of the six events were postponed. Today, heats of 4x100m were not conducted and time trial took place. D’Souza won gold, clocking 4:07.11seconds. Young swimmer Gagan AP of Karnataka and Mandar A Divase of Police finished second and third with a time of 4:08.05sec and 4:09.36sec respectively.
D’Souza then again was the part of his team in the 4x100m freestyle relay and won the gold medal with a new national record. Rehan Poncha, Gagan AP, Aaron D’Souza and Rohit Hawaldar won the gold medal with a time of 8:02.56sec.
Earlier, the record was named to Karnataka team also (8:03.25sec). Railway and Maharashtra remained second and third, clocking 8:23.01sec and 8:33.78sec respectively.
In the women’s category of 4x100m time trial final event,
Maharashtra’s Sur-abhi overcame Police’s experienced woman swimmer Richa Mishra.
She bagged the gold with a timing of 4:30.24sec while Richa, clocked 4:40.15sec and Pratima Kollali of Karnataka won bronze medal with a time of 4:47.40sec.
In the 4x200m relay event, Surabhi today won her second gold medal. Karnataka claimed silver and Tamil Nadu bronze medal, clocking 9:40.40sec and 9:44.23sec respectively.
