PANAJI: St Xavier’s College, Mapusa won the inter-college men’s football championships 2010-2011, defeating Fr Agnel College 5-1 in the finals.

At the end of the first half the score was 2-1 in favour of Fr Agnel. Snyter Pereira of St Xavier’s scored a brace as he found the net in the 4th  and 63rd minute while Jovito Fernandes (15th), Pedro Gonsalves (68th)  and Mandarrao Desai (72nd) buttressed the tally. Joyner Lourenco of Fr Agnel reduced the score in 35th minute.
Dr M M Sangodkar, Registrar of Goa University was the chief guest for the finals who awarded trophies and medals to the winners. Fr Fredrick Rodrigues, Principal of Fr Agnel College, Pilar, Herwin Furtado, Vice-Principal of St Xavier’s College, Mr  P A Borgave, College Director of Physical Education of MES College, Mr Sudhakar Naik of Shree Damodar College were also present. Mr Milton L Fernandes, Asst. Director of Physical Education  and Sports of Goa University presided over the function.
