PANAJI: Sporting Club Davorlim scored a hard fought 4-2 tie-breaker victory over Carmona Sports Club in the inaugural match and entered the quarter-finals of Cana Benaulim Panchayat Cup soccer tournament, organised by Young Strikers Club Benaulim and played at St John Baptist grounds, Dando-Benaulim, Thursday.

After a quiet start, Davorlim striker Venson Figueiredo wasted an open chance following a fine cross from the left by medio Paxyon Gomes. At the other end, Carmona striker Alex Rodrigues found Rollan Fernandes unmarked in the box but the striker shot wide with rival keeper Sachin out of position.
Soon after, Pollyson D’Sa fired over from close range as Carmona attacked using the wings.  Both the teams were defensive in the second session to take the match into the tie-breaker in which Sporting Club Davorlim were succesful through Bonny Niasso, Piedade Colaco, Paxton Gomes and Venson Figueiredo while only Christben Estibeiro and Rollan Fernandes found the net for
the losers.
