Sparkling Beto eager to strike against Bagan

MARGAO: Beto, the mercurial Dempo playmaker looked a forlorn figure a couple of rounds ago, but that’s not the case any more as he prepares himself to script a crucial victory over Mohun Bagan on Wednesday.

The Brazilian star, who had netted thrice in two I-League matches of late, has managed to shake off his injury, which had severely curtailed his attacking instincts. Beto was immaculate in his passing against Chirag United and the midfielder capped his fine performance with a classic goal to cancel out an early lead.
The long-serving Brazilian then tormented Sporting Clube de Goa in the next match and his superb brace, which included a stunning last gasp winner propelled Dempo in the driving seat for the title race while breaking Sporting’s hearts into pieces.
Beto being the senior pro easily influenced others into a sense of motivation and as Dempo are mighty closer to winning the 3rd I-League, the former skipper felt his team are keen to finish it off as soon as possible.
“We’ve done the difficult work. It’s not easy to maintain such consistency. Everybody has worked hard for the position that we are in at the moment and I have confidence that we will pull off a win on the morrow. We had a nice preparation before leaving and the mood is very energetic. Everyone knows how close we are and that will inspire us to go and win here,” Beto explained. Before arriving in Goa, the Brazilian was plying his trade with Mohun Bagan and the South American wants to continue his goal-scoring act.
“It’ll be fantastic to get a goal against Mohun Bagan here. I hope I’ll get an opportunity to convert. We’ve always created a lot of chances and with so many internationals in our ranks there’s every possibility of scoring and I hope we’ll score and win,” Beto disclosed and the Brazilian who is in such sparkling form could be the talisman yet
again for Dempo.
