MAPUSA: Sodiem Siolim Sports Club registered a solitary goal win over Adarsh Yuvak Sangh, Saligao in the inaugural match of Fr Chico Cup 2010, organised by Candolim Sports Club at Dr Gustavo Monteiro stadium, Candolim on Tuesday.

Adarsh squandered numerous goalscoring opportunities through their strikers Aveline Fernandes, Siddesh Keserkar and Francis Fernandes in the first session, while Ajay Diwadkar missed an open sitter after the break. When it seemed that the match was heading for the penalty shootout, Sodiem’s Prestonio Fernandes’ long ranger stunned the entire Arpora defence and the keeper as the ball entered the far corner of the goal.
