MAPUSA: Sesa Football Academy (Juniors) played a methodical game to knock the stuffings out of Sporting Clube de Goa (Juniors), by 3-0 margin, to collect full points in the 1st Division GFA U-20 Taca Goa league match played at Duler grounds, here on Wednesday.
Sporting with nine points, received a setback as Sesa Football Academy who collected just two points from their last two outings went all out to not only collect full three points, but now with 11 points after today’s victory have a good chance to defend the title.
Sesa held the upper hand throughout the match and had it not been for the rival keeper Oswin Rodrigues the score sheet would have read differently.
However, Sesa scored twice in the 15th and 20th minute from the left flank crosses by Valerio Rodrigues, which were finished by Charles Miranda and Amol Salgaonkar.
Sporting should have netted a goal before the breather; but Rouston Carneiro only managed to hit the side netting from a Rowllin Borges pass.
On resumption of play, Sesa strikers were time and again inside the Sporting territory, but it was the rival keeper Oswin Rodrigues who flung to his right and left to deny Melvin Lobo, Charles Miranda and Adwin Lucas from scoring.
As the match progressed Gurumayum Sharma’s rasping shot missed the target narrowly, while Valerio Rodrigues’ curling shot hit the Sporting’s top upright.
Sporting did have a couple of attempts at the Sesa goal, but it was now the rival keeper Neves Fernandes who came to his team’s rescue as he brilliantly blocked Pritam Ningthoujah and Rowlli Borges’ strikes at the goal.
Ten minutes left, for the final hooter, Girish Naik scored a delightful goal that received a loud applause from the supporters, as he smartly controlled a long floater by Charles Miranda, to beat the onrushing Sporting keeper, 3-0.
