Santosh claims bronze at senior boxing nationals

PANAJI: Goa’ Santosh Harijan claimed a bronze medal at the recently–concluded 57th senior national boxing championships held in Delhi.
Santosh lost his semi-final bout to a nail-biting finish to Sanjay Singh (RSPB) 1-2 who later on went on to win the championships.

In the quarter-finals, Santosh got the better of Bupinder Singh (Delhi) 3-0. In the pre-quarters he totally outscored Govind Singh of Uttarakhand 9-1. Santosh got the tournament going, beating Saleem Khan (J&K) 6-0. His first round was a bye. Santosh has been in the Commonwealth Core Group Camp for almost a year now. He is one of the very few Goan sportspersons to achieve this feat.
