Rosary College win GU’s Best College in Sports award

PANAJI: Rosary College of Arts, Science and Commerce from Navelim were declared the winners of Goa University Best College in Sports award for the year 2011-12. This was their third award for the third consecutive year.

In the inter-collegiate championship for men, the college won the title in cycling and were runners-up in handball, tennis, weightlifting, cross country and table tennis. In the women’s section, the college emerged winners in judo, handball and claimed runners-up position in cross country, tennikoit, basketball, athletics, volleyball and hockey. Jeovito Fernandes of  St Xavier’s College , Mapusa was declared the Best Sportsman and Ayesha Alvares of Rosary College, Navelim was declared the Best Sportswoman of the year 2011-12.
Vice Chancellor, Prof AV Afonso presented the awards on the occasion of Foundation Day celebration of Goa University. Prof PV Kamat, Registrar and guest Dr Rasik Ravindra, Director of  National Centre for Antarctica and Ocean Research were also present.
