PANAJI: Dempo Sports Club U-18 goalkeeper, Ricardo Cardozo from Candolim, who has contributed this season to clinch the runners up place in the Goa Football Association U-18 league, has been selected by Tata Football Academy to undergo a long term training programme in football at the Tata Football Academy, Jamshedpur with effect from 2nd May onwards.

Ricardo is the lone footballer from Goa having been selected amongst 500 young footballers from all over the country during the selection trials held from  April 1 to 8 at Jamshedpur.
Ricardo after having excelled earlier at all Goa inter-school championships was selected to represent Goa at Lisbon, Portugal and also represented Goa at the Nationals at Andaman Nicobar. Ricardo also played for Goa United Club, Calangute and contributed a great extent to reach the finals at All Goa level and presently also plays for United Club, Nerul for All Goa inter village tournaments.
Ricardo is incidentally the son of former renowned Dempo Sports Club goalkeeper  Eugenio Cardozo and brother of Goa’s ace and international athlete Steffi Cardozo who is presently attending the National Camp for Commonwealth
