Ravi receives Queen’s baton at Ponda

PONDA: The Home Minister, Mr Ravi Naik welcomed the Queen’s Baton relay convoy of 19th Commonwealth Games at the Sport complex, Ponda, on Tuesday evening. The relay convoy started from Canacona to Panaji on Tuesday.

After receiving the baton at the hands of Director of Sports and Youth Affairs, Dr Susana D’Souza, in presence of several other sports personalities, Mr Naik wished the participants a great success in the Games. “Sports helps to do away with the evils from us and keeps us healthy,” Mr Naik, a former volleyball player, added.
Dr D’Souza, praised him for providing security by deploying the police personnel at the entire route. Dr D’Souza urged the gathered 200-odd citizens of Ponda, besides the hundreds of students from various schools who welcomed the Queen’s baton, to wish the athletes
great success.
