Ranty stars in Dempo’s 2-0 win over AIFF XI

LUDHIANA: Ranty Martins continued his great form in the 32nd Federation Cup as the prolific and seasoned Nigerian sharpshooter scored a brace to guide I-League champions Dempo Sports Club to a 2-0 victory over AIFF XI in a Group C match played at the Guru Nanak Stadium, here on Thursday. 

Riding high on their 5-2 win against ONGC in the last match, Dempo opened their account in the 14th minute through Ranty Martins’ spot-kick.
The striker was brought down by the AIFF XI defender Raju Gaikwad inside the box, which saw Dempo going ahead by 1-0 at the lemon break.
Desmond Bulpin boys did show some character in the second half, but their fightback once again received a serious blow as Ranty completed his brace in the 79th minute.
Peter Carvalho provided the cross from the right flank, which was neatly headed in by the Dempo’s prolific striker.
The win put Dempo in a commanding position in  Group C with six points from two matches, while AIFF XI have only garnered three points from as
many matches.
