Promote spirituality, meditation among sportspersons: CM

PANAJI: “Spirituality and meditation should be promoted as developmental programmes for sportspersons. Apart from providing infrastructure and training from the perspective of attaining physical fitness, players need coaching in areas of positive thinking and human values. Only then would we be able to achieve holistic excellence in any sports activity,”

stated the Chief Minister, Mr Digamber Kamat, who was speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the recently-held ‘Fit Nation Campaign’ organised by the Sports Wing of Rajyoga Education and Research Foundation, sister concern of Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa  Vidyalaya from Colaba, Mumbai to Panaji, Goa.
The function was held at the Indoor Stadium, Sports Authority of Goa, Campal.
Ms Kuldeep Bahenji from Hyderabad, the national co-ordinator of the Sports Wing of Brahma Kumaris was the key note speaker. She said, “Concentration of mind is a vital ingredient for achieving success in any kind of sports activity. It has now been proved by various scientific experiments that regular practice of Rajyoga meditation greatly helps in enhancing the power of concentration.”
Executive Director of Sports Authority of Goa, Mr V M Prabhudessai spoke in depth about the practical applications of the ancient spiritual wisdom hidden in various scriptures of India.
Ms B K Gayatri Bahenji from Colaba, Mumbai and Ms B K Anjali Bahenji from Hyderabad also spoke on the occasion. Ms B K Shobha Bahenji, in-charge of the Brahma Kumaris unit of Goa welcomed the gathering.
Earlier, at the same venue, a grand seminar was hosted for coaches and players of the Sports Authority of Goa on the topic ‘Excellence in Sports through Rajyoga Meditation’.
