MAPUSA: Candolim Sports Club started their campaign on a promising note as they got the better of Sodiem Siolim Sports Club 2-0 in the inaugural match of Late Pramodini Dattaram Palyekar Soccer, organised by Football Club of Siolim at St Anthony’s Church grounds, Siolim on Monday.

It was hardly four minutes into the first session and Candolim were leading by a goal, which came from their striker Francis Rebello, who slotted the ball into the goal off a perfect cross by Kliber D’Souza. As the match progressed, Candolim’s ace striker Roy Das did everything but score from almost seven chances which came his way. 10 minutes after crossing over, Wesleslau Rebello took a long ranger, which beat Sodiem keeper hands down to make it 2-0.
