MAPUSA: Hosts Nerul Sports Club won the tie-breaker to enter the semis of Nerul Panchayat Cup, as they won 4-3 against Saligao Sporting Club at Nerul grounds on Tuesday. Both the teams had chances to score the winner.

In the 5th minute, Nerul’s Abhijit Govekar’s free-kick was smartly headed by Sarvesh Dabolkar which kissed the top upright. Four minutes later, Govind Mahale’s 25-yard shot was brilliantly collected by Nerul keeper Xavier Estrocio. In the second session, Joseph Monteiro of Saligao failed to beat the Nerul keeper in one-to-one situation. In the tie-breaker, Avinash Shirodkar, Felix Baretto, Sarvesh Dabolkar and Xavier Estrocio scored for Nerul while Uday Naik, Nagendra Kumar and Naizi Shaikh shot on target for Saligao.
