MARGAO: Navelim Sporting entered the semi-finals of Cana-Benaulim Sporting Cup football tournament beating Don Bosco Oratory 1-0 in the quarter-finals played at St John the Baptist grounds, Benaulim, Saturday.

The all-important goal was scored by Navelim’s sharp shooter Sanford Cardozo in the 48th minute of play.
Don Bosco Oratory who played this match minus their key players, as they were engaged in another match at Raia, did well to contain the Navelim attacks in the first half and to a great extent in the second session too.
Navelim Sporting who had more of the ball in the second session scored the winner when Sukdev Arwade dribbled two Oratory defenders and then passed the ball to better placed Sanford Cardozo who beat the Oratory keeper with an angular shot.Navelim then held on to that slender lead till the final whistle to move into the semi-finals.
