POINGUINNIM: Mok-hard Saraswat Sangh, Mokhard, Canacona emerged winners in the First Premier League Cricket tournament, organized by Canacona Saraswat Samaj, as part of Silver Jubilee celebrations, at Sadolxem grounds, on Sunday.

In the finals, Mokhard defeated Loliem Saraswat Samaj by 22 runs, to claim the winners spot. In the allotted overs they scored 54 runs.

In the morning, Canacona Saraswat Samaj president Mr Damodar Shenvi inaugurated the tournament and later in the prize distribution he gave away the prizes to the winners and the runners-up. Others present on the occasion included Mr Dilip Gaitonde, Youth Wing President Mr Purnanand Kenkre, Women Wing chief, Ms Neeta Pai, Mr Datta Moni, Mr Keshav Moni, Mr Ulhas Pai Khot. In all eight teams participated in the said tournament. The winners and runners-up were given trophies.

Other prizes:Best player of the tournament: Gautam Shenvi of Mokhard. Best fielder: Ramchandra Prabhu of Mokhard. Man of the series award:Durgesh Prabhu. The umpires for the tournament were Anil Kamat, Vishal Prabhudesai, Pawan Bhat and Prasad Bhat.

Earlier Anil Kamat welcomed and compered the proceedings and later Purnanad Kenkre proposed the vote
of thanks.
