MAPUSA: Milagres Sports Club, Mapusa booked their place in the finals of the Parish Youth Vagator Soccer with a thumping 3-0 win over Holiday Club Arpora, at Ozran grounds, Vagator, on Tuesday.
In the very 2nd minute, Adain Beig set up Pramod Mardolkar right inside the 18-yard box, whose hot-blooded shot banged the Milagres crosspiece.
Arpora’s keeper Nandan Simepurushkar was in the thick of action as he saved Miland Rane’s blistering shot, in the 28th minute.
Arpora’s citadel crumbled in the 10th minute on crossing over, from a costly blunder by keeper Nandan who let go a feeble shot from Krishna Choughe, between his legs.
Arpora did try to wipe
out the one-goal deficit but Milagres keeper Wilbur Menezes halted Lawrence Rodrigues’ shot.
A harsh tackle by defender Raghu Shirodkar on Lawrence Rodrigues, inside the danger zone, prompted referee Ashok Shirodkar to point to the dreaded spot. Anup Govekar made no mistake to score, 2-0.
Hunger for goals did not
end for Milagres, as a fine solo effort by Joelan Fernandes,
in the 60th minute saw him
take the score tally to 3-0.
Milagres will now take on PY Nuvem in the finals to be held
on August 1.
