Goa’s Nhehern in four finals at World Yogasana
PANAJI: Thirteen-year-old, Nhehern Acharya from Merces has qualified for the finals in all the four yoga events that he has been selected to participate at the World Yogasana Championships in Rosario city, Argentina, which is organised every year by the International Yoga Sport Federation,
Argentina. Nhehern is a Std 8th student of Dr K B Hedgewar High School, Panaji and is the world yogasana champion and the youngest international awardee at the World Yogasana Championships held at Italy last September. Nhehern is the only participant to represent Goa, amongst others from across the nation, at the championship.
Domaciano United Club Benaulim president
MARGAO: Domaciano Fernandes of Pedro’s Benaulim-Beach was appointed the President of the United Club Benaulim for the fifth consecutive term. In the AGM held on Sunday at the Cana-Benaulim Panchayat hall, the following members were appointed to the Executive Committee and other posts: Remy Fernandes(vice-president), Fermino Fernandes (general secretary), Tony Fernandes (Jt-secretary), Severino Fernandes (treasurer), Francisco Fernandes (asst. treasurer), Rony Diniz (sports secretary), Santano Fernandes & Ossy Fernandes (asst. secretary). Organising Committee: Cajie Fernandes, Ancete Fernandes, Isidore Silva, Menino Fernandes. Disciplinary Committee: Joaquim Diogo Silva, Cassidy Fernandes, Anthony Fernandes, Rosario Silva, Goddy Rodrigues, Remedious Fernandes & Cliff Fernandes.
3-a-side floodlit tie-breaker at Morjim
PANAJI: MSC Morjim will organise all-Goa 3-a-side floodlit tie-breaker and one-man show on October 1 at Govt. Primary School, Pokarwaddo-Morjim grounds, at 7pm. ` 5,000, ` 3,000 will be awarded. Details may be obtained from Paresh and Damodar. Meanwhile, MSC Morjim will also organise all-Goa 7-a-side one-day football tournament at Govt. High School, Agarwada grounds on October 3 and 10 at 10 am. The winners and runners-up will be awarded ` 12,000 and ` 10,000 respectively.
Santa Cruz Married win finals
PANAJI: Santa Cruz Married beat St Anthony Married, Goa-Velha 5-4 via the tie-breaker in the finals of 4th Remigio de Araujo Memorial Married Soccer Tourmanent, organised by Boys of Santa Cruz. At full time the teams were locked in a 2-2 draw. Ms Victoria Fernandes, MLA Santa Cruz, was the chief guest. Mr Richard Pinto, Mr Rodolf Fernandes, Ms Maria Fernandes, Ms Rosy Fernandes, Mr Amit Andrade, Mr Minguel Fernandes were present.
