Bharati to lead Goa in National baseball

PANAJI: National gold medallist Bharati Gaonkar will lead the Goa state women’s team at 25th Senior National Baseball championships to be held at Indoor, MP from November 22-27 November.

Goa team is as follows: Bharati Gaonkar (captain), Nitisha Kalangutkar, Deeplaxmi Avati, Sampada Amadalli, Ravita Gaude, Neha Bhomkar, Anuja Mudhalkar, Savita Velip, Gauri Padkar, Dipti Gaude, Sukhada Kajrekar, Disha Kerkar, Karishma Gaude, Sweta Kuvelkar.

All Goa Tug-of-War on Dec 5

PANAJI: The 3rd all Goa Tug-of-War Championship 2010 will be organised by the Tug-of-War Association of Goa outside Panjim New Municipal market premises on December 5 at 2.30 pm. Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000 & Rs 3,000 will be awarded to the top three finishers. Rolling Trophy in the name of late Putu Naik will also be awarded. 5-a-side soccer at Karai-Shiroda

PANAJI: The 2nd all-Goa one-day 5-a-side football tournament, organised by Foot Fighters Club-Karai-Shiroda will be held November 21 and 28 near St Joseph Church Karai-Shiroda-Ponda at 10am.. The winners and runners-up will be awarded Rs 7,000 & Rs 5,000.

 Heavy ball cricket at Peddem

PANAJI: SS Boys will organise their heavy ball cricket tournament on November 28, December 5 &12 at Peddem grounds. Rs 10,000, Rs 5,000 will be awarded. Teams interested should give their names and entry fee on or before November 26. Spot entries will not be accepted.

Cross Road Boys lift inter-ward trophy

PANAJI: Cross Road Boys, Fourth Ward Colva won the inter-ward football organised by Young Boys of Fourth Ward Colva at Directorate of Sports grounds, Colva. In the finals they beat M V Sernabatim 1-0. Jollyton Fernandes scored the all-important goal in the 5th minute. Mr Francisco Xavier Pacheco, MLA was the chief guest for prize distribution function.

5-a-side football at Raia

PANAJI: Fox Boys Manora-Raia will organise 3rd all Goa 5-a-side football on November 21 and December 5 at Manora grounds, Raia. The matches will begin at 9.30am. One group semi-final will be held on November 21 while the other group semis and final between two groups shall be played on December 5. The top-three finishers will earn Rs 10,500, Rs 6,500 and Rs 3,500.

Tie-breaker at Chinchinim today

PANAJI: Our Lady of Hope Parish Youth, Chinchinim will organise their 9th all-Goa 3-a- side football tie-breaker on November 21 at Chinchinim Church grounds from 10.30 am. Rs 4,444, Rs 2,222 will be awarded. Spot entries will be accepted at the venue.

Aalhad, Genevieve, Abhijit excel in diving

PANAJI: Goa bagged 1 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals in diving category at 56th National School Games, which was recently held at Solapur, Maharashtra. Genevieve Atala D’Costa bagged 1gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze in 3m springboard, 1m springboard and highboard in that order. She also became the individual champion in under 14 years (girls) category. Aalhad Vivek Chati bagged 2 bronze in 1m and 3m springboard respectively in under 14years (boys) category. Abhijit AJ bagged 1 bronze in highboard under 14 boys category. All the above divers are trained by Goa’s senior diving coach P Narasimhalu.
